Dec. 5: Fire Breaks Out at LIU Dormitory

Blaze reported late Sunday night.

1. A small fire was reported at the  Dormitory at 190 Willoughby St. at 9:56 p.m. Sunday night, according to the New York Fire Department. The blaze, which occurred in a room on the 11th floor, was extinguished at 10:33 p.m., the FDNY said. There were no injuries.

2. In another sign that the holiday season is well under way, Borough President Marty Markowitz will oversee this year's  at Borough Hall. Holiday refreshments and musical performances will begin at 5:30 this evening.

3.  will get a screening tonight at BAM Harvey Theater, showcasing the 49th State's austere glacial landscape as a backdrop for dancers' memories.
