Crook Nabs More Than $1K from Plumbing Biz: Police Blotter

A Flushing Avenue business is out more than $1,000 after someone managed to get in the shop after-hours and nab cash and property. A Precision Plumbing employee told police that at 4:30 p.m. on March 25, he closed the store, located at 63 Flushing Ave. When she returned at 7:30 a.m. on March 26, she discovered $1,200 and items were taken. Police said there were no signs of forced entry. Four employees have keys to the business.
A 24-year-old man left his Saint Edwards Street apartment at 12 p.m. on March 22 and when he returned at 9:30 a.m. on March 25, the door was unlocked. Property valued at $1,802 was taken from his apartment. The victim found a work order from NYCHA ESU that said a water leak in a neighboring apartment forced them to enter his apartment to stop the flooding. The door was secured by NYCHA after the work was completed.

Police arrested a shoplifter who stole a guitar worth $1,600 from a Flatbush Avenue musical instrument store on March 24. A 33-year-old employee of Guitar Center told police that the crook, a 28-year-old Hispanic man standing 5-foot-8 and weighing 170 lbs., walked into the store and placed a black Stingray guitar into his bag and walked out of the store. The shoplifter was caught on surveillance video stealing the instrument and police arrested him a day later.
