Brooklyn Tech Alum Dies in Boston-area Fire

Binland Lee, 22, was killed Sunday morning when a fire engulfed her Allston home.

A Brooklyn woman was killed early Sunday morning after a blaze engulfed her Boston-area home, the New York Daily News reported

Binland Lee, 22, a Brooklyn Technical High School alumna who was pursuing a degree in marine biology at Boston University, was trapped in her attic bedroom after a three-alarm fire broke out at approximately 6:30 a.m., the News noted.

Before being brought under control at approximately 7:30 a.m., 15 other people were injured in the fire, including nine residents and six firefighters.

Lee graduated from Brooklyn Tech in 2009, where she was named "Most Likely to Succeed" in the school's Bio-Med program, the News reported.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The New York Post noted authorities are investigating whether the three-story home, which they said housed as many as 19 people, had been illegally converted into apartments.
