Atlantic Terminal Briefly Evacuated Due to Suspicious Package

Transit and shopping hub cleared Monday at about 9:45 a.m.

An already tough late morning commute got even more chaotic Monday as police briefly cleared Atlantic Terminal due to a report of a suspicious package.

According to Patch reader Wendy Blake, the transportation hub was cleared at about 9:45 a.m.

It's unclear when the terminal reopened but pedestrian and train traffic had resumed at the station as of 11 a.m. Monday.

The station is a hub for Long Island Rail Road and seven subway lines.

A call to police for more information was not immediately returned.
