Another Sexual Assault Near BAM

Another white male attacks a woman late in the evening — the second such incident in two weeks.

A creep attempted to rape a woman at Fulton and Cumberland streets on Jan. 26 but fled because a witness cried for help — the second instance of sexual assault near BAM in the last two weeks.

In the most recent attack, the victim told cops she was at the intersection at around 1:15 a.m. when the man snuck up from behind, threw her up against a fence and said, “Don’t fight it, enjoy it.” He then forced his hand up her skirt and groped her. A witness in a nearby house cried for help, forcing the suspect to flee.

Cops only described the suspect as a white male — a characteristic shared by the suspect of the that went down on Jan. 19.

But a police source said that it had yet to be determined whether the same man is thought to have been involved in both crimes.

"A determination will be made by the Special Victims Unit," the source said.

In the previous incident, the 25-year-old victim told cops she was walking near St. Felix Street and Hanson Place at around 1:30 a.m. when a man grabbed her from behind and tried to rip off her clothing.

The woman screamed, and the man fled. The woman wasn't injured, cops said.

Police released a sketch of a suspect in the Jan. 19 crime, who they described as a white male, 30 to 35 years old, with a medium build and light hair. He was wearing a dark pea coat with a light-colored, button-down shirt, according to the police.
