Man Attempts to Steal Police Scooter With Bagsful of Pot

A police officer discovered Rhalique Purifoy, 28, trying to jack an NYPD police scooter parked on Emerson Place using a screwdriver on Jan. 24 at 11:38 p.m. When approached, Purifoy bolted into traffic with the arresting office in hot pursuit. When trying to cuff him, Purifoy flailed his arms at the officer, who later discovered three zip-lock baggies of marijuana on his person.

John Jay HS Student Tries to Rob Man

A 64-year-old man endured a terrifying experience on Jan. 25 just before 3 p.m. after being approached by a John Jay High School student on Ashland Place. The student, 16, demanded $5 while acting as if he had a firearm. When the man refused, the teen called the man a racial slur before fleeing down the street. Police arrested the teen shortly later.

An iPhone user who had their device stolen from a residence at 177 Myrtle Ave. on Jan. 23 at 8:10 p.m. later discovered that the Find My iPhone Application only works if the user enables the service. The victim also lost an unknown amount of cash, a credit card and checks in the robbery.

Punched and Kicked at Ingersoll

Four unknown perps kicked, punched and then robbed a 43-year-old non-native English speaker as he attempted to enter an apartment at 31 Fleet Walk at Ingersoll Houses on Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. The man sustained injuries to his face and nose. A police search of the area failed to turn up the suspects.

Takedown on Cambridge Place

An unknown perp came up from behind a 29-year-old man walking home on Cambridge Place on Jan. 25 at 10:20 p.m., twisting his head while pushing his body to the ground and laying on his back, saying, "Where is it at?" The perp took an iPhone 4, several credit cards and an unknown amount of cash from his victim's pockets.

Purse Snatch Attempt on Adelphi

While walking down Adelphi Street near Park Avenue on Jan. 26 at 2 p.m., a young woman had her purse almost yanked off her shoulder by an unknown perp. When she resisted, the thief struck her in the face with their elbow and removed a Samsung cellphone from her hand. The perp then fled on foot southbound on Adelphi Street.

Teen Robbed

Robbers threatened to kill a 13-year-old boy when he refused to turn over his iPhone 4 on the street along Greene Avenue on Jan. 27 at 4:46 p.m. The perps took the phone and fled east on Greene. A foot patrol by police did not turn up the suspects.

Two Teens Nabbed at Clinton-Washington Av Station

Police arrested Tevaughn Harrell, 18, and his 16-year-old accomplice for trying to rob a man with a knife at Clinton-Washington Av Station on Jan. 27 at 10:25 p.m. The name of the 16-year-old is being withheld due to his age.

A Robber, Not a Gentleman

As she excited the G train Clinton-Washington Av station, a perp approached her from behind, punching her multiple times in the head. The robber then scooped up the woman's iPod that dropped to the ground during the attack and fled southbound on Washington Avenue. The victim received medical attention at the scene. A police search for the perp did not turn up any clues.

Woman's Instincts Prove Accurate

Sometimes you can see a bad situation coming from a mile away. For one 45-year-old woman, it was only a block away on Greene Avenue and St. James Place on Jan. 28 when she saw unknown male slow down in front of her. Putting her iPhone in her right jacket pocket, she passed the man, who then grabbed her by the neck and placed his hands into her other jacket pocket, taking out a $20 bill.

Incident at Women's Shelter #1

A boxcutter-wielding woman threatened another resident at Tillary Women's Shelter on Jan. 23 at around 1:35 p.m. The director of the shelter told police that the 47-year-old suspect had been evicted from the facility and when approached after her return, ran up to the building's 6th floor. No injuries were reported.

Incident at Women's Shelter #2

Another assault, this time with a pen, occurred at Tillary Women's Shelter on Jan. 24 when a woman stabbed another resident with the weapon, causing bruising and swelling. The victim also claims the woman punched and kicked her.

Fracas at Ingersoll Houses

After an early morning argument, the friend of a 19-year-old woman knocked her to the ground, sat on top of her and began punching her about the face and head. The teen suffered scratches to the face and injury to the head as a result of the Jan. 26 attack.

Argument at Apartment Turns Violent

A 26-year-old woman was the victim of an assault on Jan. 26 at 9:22 a.m. at her residence at St. James Place after an argument with a man, identified by police as Jevon Walker, 26, who grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground. The victim received medical treatment for minor injuries at the 88th Precinct station house. Police arrested Walker shortly after the attack.

Elderly Man Stuck With Fan

A daughter reported an attack on her 63-year-old father at Ingersoll Houses on Jan. 26, when four unknown males smashed a fan over his head, causing bruising and a cut to the back of the head. The assault occurred sometime during the day and early evening hours on Jan. 21.

Teenage Girls Arrest For Throwing Bottle at Mom, Baby

Police arrested two teenage girls after a short chase on Jan. 26 at 1:30 p.m. for throwing a bottle at a mother holding a baby after an argument at a bus stop on Washington Avenue and Fulton Street. The bottle missed mom and baby; however, the girls, age 17 and 15, chased the woman to a nearby subway station and beat her with a wooden stick. The names of both teens are being withheld due to their age.

GPS Stolen From Terminex Van

A Terminex employee reported a car break-in near 161 S. Elliott Place on Jan. 23 at around 11 a.m., resulting in the loss of a GPS system and an Intermac, together worth $2,640.

Pratt Student Trashes Boyfriend's Apt.

A student at reportedly with a longstanding history of mental problems trashed his boyfriend's Clinton Avenue apartment on Jan. 23 at around 1:30 p.m. The victim, a 20-year-old male, arrived at the apartment to find his boyfriend waiting outside. Upon entering his pad, the man discovered the kitchen trashed and a window smashed. The boyfriend admitted causing the damage.

Xbox, Laptop Stolen From Apt. on Adelphi

A woman arrived home to find her door jimmied and apartment ransacked on Jan. 23 at 9:30 p.m. Xbox equipment and a laptop were reported stolen. Police found the victim's necklace near the building's front entryway, indicating the direction where the perp(s) had fled.

Woman Wakes Up to Intruder

Waking up from her slumber at her Washington Avenue apartment at around 3 a.m. on Jan. 29, a woman discovered an unknown man standing over her in her bedroom. After she screamed, the perp walked out without taking anything. No injuries were reported.

Couple Comes Home to Discover Robbery

Upon arriving to their S. Oxford St. home on the afternoon of Jan. 29, a couple discovered a screen window kicked in and a $250 puffy black coat stolen.

Generator Stolen From Shooting Location

CBS Production reported a $2,500 generator missing from a street shooting location on Willoughby and Classon avenues on Jan. 23 at noon.

Items Stolen From Locker at Shelter

When he left his wallet in an open locker at Opportunity House Shelter on Jan. 24 at 9 a.m., the man arrived five minutes later to find it stolen. The wallet contained two bankcards that did not show any unauthorized activity at the time the police report was taken.

Cellphone Nabbed on No. 2,3 Train

An unknown perp getting on the No. 2 or 3 train at Chambers Street snatched an iPhone 4S from a woman at Atlantic Av Station as she texted near one of the doors. The robber ran through the closing sliding doors and fled in an unknown direction.

Elderly Man Discovers Fraudulent PayPal Account

Upon opening his mail on Jan. 23, a 73-year-old man discovered a PayPal account created in his name without his permission. An unknown person used his info to make a purchase totaling $1,622.20 with Hewlett Packard.

Wallet Stolen From BAM Coat Check

A visitor to the got an unwelcome surprise when he discovered his wallet missing after retrieving it from the coat check on Jan. 24 at around 10:45 p.m. The man reported fraudulent activity on one of his credit cards.

He Said, She Said?

The girlfriend of a man reported his wallet and gold money clip stolen from his vehicle, which she borrowed to take to work on Jan. 26 at 8 a.m. The girlfriend told the man that the doors were unlocked when she took the car—but the man reported that the doors locked automatically when he parked the vehicle on Jan. 24.

Teen Arrested After Failed iPhone Grab

The victim of a Jan. 26 iPhone robbery positive identified an 18-year-old suspect who was collared by police shortly after he snatched the device from her hand in the vicinity of 165 Dekalb Ave. The teen briefly resisted arrest, flailing his arms while being handcuffed. No injuries were reported.

Twenty-Something Man Steals From Child

A 24-year-old suspect, identified by police as Giacomo Cordaro, snatched an iPod from a 13-year-old girl as she rode a southbound No. 2 train at Atlantic Avenue station on Jan. 27 at around 5 p.m. Police recovered the girl's property. Police arrested Cordaro at the scene.

Thieving Employee Caught Red-Handed

The owner of Bod's Restaurant Equipment stumbled upon his employee stuffing $2,200 in cash into an envelope on Jan. 28 at 1:30 p.m. The employee fled westbound on Atlantic Avenue with the money when the owner attempted to intervene.

Briefcase Hacked, Items Stolen

A man saw a thief bust open his locked briefcase at an apartment in Whitman Houses and take a Canon camera and lens, an unknown amount of cash, sneakers, a gold watch and a Jamaican passport on Jan. 26 at noon. The total value of the items is $4,980.

Purse Stolen From Mom

As she changed her baby's diaper at on Jan. 29 at 3 p.m., the woman's purse fell to the ground. The woman later discovered the purse stolen, with a Macy's, Bloomingdales and New York State benefits card inside.

Stolen Nissan Recovered

A car reported stolen by a woman on Jan. 19 from Clinton Avenue was later discovered abandoned on Dekalb and Seneca avenues on Jan. 23. A video surveillance camera installed at a nearby Associated supermarket may provide clues into the theft.
