Before coming to the 88th Precinct, Finnerty "never worked a day of [her] life in Brooklyn," but she noted that she's happy to be stationed in the neighborhoods the Precinct cover, saying their vibrant art culture reminds her of Grenwich Village.

She encouraged attendees to say hello if they see her driving around the neighborhood, and joked that if she asks for directions, to help out as she is still getting used to the neighborhood.

Separately, she encouraged residents to be vigilant in locking their home's doors and windows as the area has experienced a recent uptick in burglaries and robberies. Though the directive sounds basic, for some people who move in to the neighborhood from other states, it's important to remember, Finnerty said.
