Berklee Global Jazz Ambassadors featuring Joe Lovano

Interstellar space: it’s a trending topic this week, and for more than one reason. No doubt you’ve heard of the Voyager’s historic entry into interstellar space, just outside of the solar system. Did you know that the Voyager is also outfitted with a record in case it encounters intelligent life forms in the mood to jam to some terrestrial tunes?

Jazz lovers in New York can take their own musical journey to interstellar space as the Berklee Global Jazz Ambassadors take John Coltrane’s seldom-performed work of the same name to the stage.

On Monday, September 16 at Dizzy’s Club Cola-Cola, Berklee professor and saxophone virtuoso, Joe Lovano leads the Berklee Global Jazz Ambassadors, six students from Berklee’s prestigious Berklee Global Jazz Institute, in a performance Coltrane’s Interstellar Space. It was originally recorded primarily as saxophone and drum duet; however, Lovano and his students have re-imagined Interstellar Space for sextet. They will perform it during the week prior to Coltrane’s birthday, which is September 23!
