Two local New York City Housing Authority community centers will hold events to celebrate Mother's Day this weekend for participants of citywide fatherhood programs.

The NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) will host events Saturday, May 11 at the Farragut Community Center and Ingersoll Community Center in Fort Greene.

From 1-4 p.m. at the Farragut Community Center, located at 228 York St., children will participate in arts and crafts.

From 3-5 p.m. at the Ingersoll Community Center, located at 177 Myrtle Ave., mothers will be treated to a luncheon, which will include guest speakers and presentations by children.

The Mother’s Day Recognition events will be open to all father figures who participate or have a child who participates in DYCD programs.

At the gatherings, which are meant to recognize the importance of effective co-parenting and celebrate mothers and female caregivers, fathers will assist their children in creating a work of art that the children will present to their mother or caregiver on Mother’s Day.
