Tour Fort Greene, Clinton Hill As Part of Jane's Walk NYC

Take part in a weekend series of more than 100 free guided walks and bike rides throughout the five boroughs.

On Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5, the city will be filled with tourists from near and far as part of Jane's Walk NYC, a weekend series of more than 100 free guided walks and bike rides throughout the five boroughs. 

Community Board 2 announced 14 of the walks will take place in the district, which includes Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. With very limited exceptions, registration is not required. 

At 9 a.m. on Saturday, Regina Myer, president of Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the park's lead designer, Matthew Urbanski of Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Inc., will head up Brooklyn Bridge Park: How a Waterfront Park Survived the Storm.

At the same time, discuss the history of Brooklyn Bridge on a walk with Gary Zarr called Brooklyn Bridge: There and Back.

At noon, Jennifer Klein, vice president for capital planning at Brooklyn Bridge Park, will join Matt Urbanski for the second round of Brooklyn Bridge Park: How a Waterfront Park Survived the Storm.

Chad Purkey, with the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership, will guide Walking Brooklyn’s Wallabout: Settlement, Decline, and Reinvestment (and Some Famous People Too!).

At the same time in nearby Gowanus, the Groundswell Community Mural Project will lead a mural tour.

Katie Lyon, with the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, will showcase Architecture, Arts and History in Downtown Brooklyn.

At 9 a.m. on SundayGreenway planners Michael Porto-Urban and Milton Puryear will lead, Activating the Brooklyn Waterfront: A Conversation Along the Brooklyn Waterfront GreenwayRSVP is required.

At noon, Wham! Brooklyn’s BAM Cultural District Has Arrived, and community resident and gardener Ron Janoff will present what's there and what's to come.

Then at 3 p.m., participate in Wham!, where Dr. Janoff will reprise his noon walk. 

At the same time, Norman Oder, author of the Atlantic Yards Report blog, will lead Brooklyn's Atlantic Yards and the Barclays Center, In Context.

Roland Lewis, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance, will use the Brooklyn Bridge Park waterfront to narrate the Past, Present and Future of Our City of Water.

If you're looking for a hyper-local draw and a chance to get to know the neighborhood better, Alexandra Kustow will present, When Brooklyn Was King: The Residential Architecture of the Wallabout and Clinton Hill Historic Districts.
