One Year After Sandy, Help Brooklyn 'Light Up the Shore'

Vigils to dot the shoreline of Brooklyn on Sandy anniversary.

On Tuesday, Oct. 29, Brooklyn residents can help light up the shore with the Brooklyn Long Term Recovery Group in remembrance of the events of a year ago.

Candlelight vigils will be held along the shoreline in Brooklyn and Queens, from the Rockaways to DUMBO and beyond at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday night, an act of solidarity with those who are still feeling the impact of Superstorm Sandy.

Looking for an event close to you? Or want to find a place to join others who have fought to rebuild after the storm? Check out the vigil map here.

The most concentrated group of events is taking place in the Rockaways, Coney Island and Sea Gate, but there are also vigils being held in Red Hook, DUMBO and Canarsie.

All events will begin at 7:45 p.m. exactly, the moment the storm made landfall in New York City.

It's just one of the ways to mark the passage of time for those who have endured the recovery efforts of the past 12 months.
