LIU Brooklyn Hosts Four FREE Summer Programs for High Schoolers

LIU Brooklyn will host four free summer programs for high school students. Please see the programs below or for more information, email community@brooklyn.liu.edu. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN ACCOUNTING (COAP) In partnership with the New York State Society of Public Accountants’ Foundation for Accounting Education, LIU Brooklyn’s COAP provides high school juniors and seniors with a hands-on view of the accounting industry. You will have the opportunity to experience campus life while participating in sessions on résumé writing, etiquette, communication and business ethics. This free program runs from Sunday, July 7 - Thursday, July 11 and includes residence hall accommodations. Join us and find out if accounting is right for you. The deadline to apply is May 17. LIBERTY PARTNERSHIPS COLLEGE READINESS PROGRAM If you want to be sure you’re prepared for college, check out the Liberty Partnerships College Readiness Program. Program activities include tutoring, wellness and lifestyle management, educational counseling, personal and family counseling and career and college exploration activities. Supported by a grant from the NYS Education Department and presented by LIU Brooklyn, this free summer program is open to high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors in New York City. MOCADA APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM (MAP) AT LIU BROOKLYN If you’re a serious young artist interested in developing your portfolio, consider LIU Brooklyn’s MoCADA Apprenticeship Program. This free summer intensive studio course and field study program features classes taught by practicing artists and college professors who specialize in drawing and painting. The program runs in July. SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAM Earn college credits this summer while developing five essential skills: writing, speaking, critical thinking, research and creativity. The Summer Bridge Program consists of interdisciplinary coursework and class trips around Brooklyn. At the end of the program, you will have the opportunity to showcase your work, and you’ll be eligible to enroll in two tuition-free college courses during the regular academic year.
