LIU Brooklyn High School Jazz Festival Brings More Than 60 Young Musicians to the Stage on May 5

LIU Brooklyn High School Jazz Festival on Saturday, May 5 at 12:30 p.m. in the Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts

More than 60 high school musicians will participate in the LIU Brooklyn High School Jazz Festival organized by the campus’ music program. National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master saxophonist Dave Liebman will perform as a special guest at the free event on Saturday, May 5 at 12:30 p.m. in the Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts on campus, located on Flatbush Avenue between DeKalb Avenue and Willoughby Street. The event is open to the public.  

Participating high school bands include James Madison High School, Brooklyn High School for the Arts and Frank Sinatra School of the Arts.

“Jazz is still alive in Brooklyn,” said Sam Newsome, assistant professor of music at LIU Brooklyn. “This festival is indicative of the great young talent we have in the borough.”
