Local filmmakers' new must-see docu-film about world of competitive eating premieres Fri., Nov. 15 Manhattan

This amazing documentary is called "Hungry," and is created/directed by young, hip, up-and-coming local filmmakers Barry Rothbart (from Bklyn) and Jeff Cerulli (Queens), who also perform stand-up comedy. Barry is an actor who recently filmed for his role in the new Scorsese movie "The Wolf of Wall Street."

On July 4th, 2010 - after a contract dispute - the world's most famous "eater," Takeru Kobayashi was arrested at the Nathan's Hot Dog Contest in Coney Island, the contest he helped popularize.

The film enters the fascinating world of competitive eating and chronicles the fight against Major League Eating, lead by Kobi, dubbed "The Tsunami."  It culminates in a giant spectacle (one year later) on a NYC rooftop, where the champ breaks the world hot dog record.

"Hungry" will premiere Nov. 15th at the NYC DOCS fest's popular Midnight Movies event at the IFC Theater in Manhattan. The directors and Kobayashi will be there.
