Brooklyn Public Library will host a panel discussion entitled The Art of Fashion Illustration: Antonio Lopez as part of their fall exhibition, Fashion Illustration: A Contemporary Look. Antonio Lopez dominated fashion illustration in the 1970s and 80s with his energetic, singular style. His inner circle included fashion greats such as Grace Coddington, Pat Cleveland, and Karl Lagerfeld. Lopez was also credited for “discovering” Jessica Lange, Jerry Hall, and Grace Jones and helping to catapult the models to superstardom with his drawings and photographs.
Panelists to include:
- Paul Caranicas, author of Antonio's People and president of the Antonio Lopez Foundation
- Roger Padilha and Mauricio Padilha, authors of Antonio Lopez: Fashion, Art, Sex, and Disco
- Corey Tippen, Antonio’s model and lead hair and makeup artist
- Karen Santry, Professor of Illustration at FIT, will moderate the panel
