Join filmmaker André Robert Lee and author Tanner Colby (Some of My Best Friends are Black) for a screening of Lee’s film, The Prep School Negro, at Brooklyn Public Library’s Dweck Center. The screening will be preceded by a wine and cheese reception, and followed by a Q&A with Lee and Colby.

Lee grew up in the ghettos of Philadelphia, and when he was 14 years old received what his family believed to be a golden ticket – a full scholarship to attend one of the most prestigious prep schools in the country. The film explores the consequences of being thrust into a world of privilege and power, both for Lee and for past and present students of color. The event is in the Dweck Center at Brooklyn Public Library's Center Library. Wine and cheese reception and introductions from 6:30-7pm; Film screening 7-8:30pm; Talkback with Tanner Colby and Q&A 8:30-9pm
