150th Anniversary of Emancipation Proclamation: The Legacy of Black Civil War Soldiers

Cheryl Wills will present a lecture that pays homage to the storied treasure of her great-great-great grandfather, Sandy Wills, who fled his slave master (Edmund Wills) and fought valiantly as a member of the United States Colored Troops. Her talk will also focus on the disparities of the treatment of black and white soldiers during the civil war.  Upon obtaining the pension and medical records of her family members more than a century later, Wills found startling disparities.  Book Signing follows the event.
