Work On Fowler Square Pedestrian Plaza Begins

Construction will take about a week.

, the Fowler Square Pedestrian Plaza is about to make its debut on S. Elliott Place between Fulton Street and Lafayette Avenue in Fort Greene.

As promised at on March 20, the city Department of Transportation began work to repair broken and uneven sections of sidewalk at the historic square this week.

Construction of the pedestrian plaza will take about a week, according to CB2 district manager Robert Perris. Work will include the pouring of surface coating material on S. Elliott Place, installation of planters and bollards at entrances at Fulton Street and Lafayette Avenue and more sidewalk work.

As of Monday evening, construction equipment had been located at the site, with several areas of sidewalk already excavated.

When complete, the plaza will join the as the neighborhood's newest outdoor public space.
