Wedding Party Gets an Unwanted Guest -- Irene

Groom Onell Goven said "a little bit of rain" wasn't going to stop him from enjoying his big day.

Onell Goven doesn't believe in hurricanes.

Even so, Goven, his new bride and wedding party found themselves pelted by the opening rainbands associated with Hurricane Irene's approach on New York City Saturday afternoon.

The bride and groom took shelter under the Sailor and Soldiers' Arch at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn to take advantage of the rare dry spot for a quick photo op.

Goven and his new wife, both from the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, were married earlier on Saturday.

"I don't think it's going to be that bad," Goven said hopefully, perhaps in a bid to lift the spirits of the bride, who had to dash through driving rain in her white wedding dress to a waiting limousine.

"Besides, I don't believe in hurricanes," he said, chasing after his new bride into the rain.
