The Early Word: Transit on Saturday Schedule for President's Day

Weekend service interruptions in effect.

1. Planning to take the Q or the B this Monday? Well, today you'll need to find a new route. Citing traditionally low ridership on that holiday Monday, the MTA is extending its weekend track work—meaning there will be no Q trains north of Prospect Park through 5 a.m. Tuesday Feb. 21, according to the MTA. All trains will be running on a Saturday schedule, so that means no B train either. For more service changes, visit mta.info

2. New York-based author Ellis Avery, named one of the “Best Writers You’ve Never Heard of But Should Go Read Right Now” by the New York Press, discusses her new novel, "The Last Nude." Greenlight Bookstore, 686 Fulton St. 7:30 p.m.

3. The Blue Vipers of Brooklyn, an early jazz, swing, and blues band, composed of acoustic guitar/vocals, upright bass, homemade washboard percussion, trumpet and saxophone, plays its repertoire of witty songs from 1920s and 30s. Chez Oskar, 211 Dekalb Ave. 8 p.m.
