Solange Knowles Stages Brooklyn Protest

The singer and Brooklyn resident organized a rally in response to not-guilty verdict in the Trayvon Martin case.

Joining legions of celebrities outraged by the not-guilty verdict rendered in the Trayvon Martin case this weekend, indie singer and Brooklyn resident Solange Knowles organized a protest held at Borough Hall on Sunday, calling for justice.

Carrying a sign quoting Malcom X, that read “I’m for truth, no matter who tells it. I’m for justice, no matter who it’s for or against,” Knowles was joined by hundreds, according to the New York Daily News

“I am sick of racism and want to do something about it,” Knowles wrote on her Twitter account during a late-night call to action over the weekend. She urged fans to sign an NAACP petition to open a civil rights case against Zimmerman and said that she could not sleep because "all I can think about is what can be done."
