Oct. 13: Occupy Wall Street Comes To Brooklyn

Protesters to gather at Grand Army Plaza this Saturday.

1. Protesters united against what they call corporate greed and a financial system hostile to the needs of the "99 percent" will gather Saturday at Grand Army Plaza—and not without significant support from some of the borough's top elected officials, including Borough President Markowitz and Councilwoman Letitia James.

2. Continuing its celebration of 150 years as the borough's permier cultural institution, BAM will host an "Iconic Artist Talk" featuring acclaimed performer at the Opera House tonight.

3. Why did the Ancient Egyptians mummify the dead? by the latest scientific research into the Brooklyn Museum's mummies' previous lives? Tonight's tour, led by Museum Guide Roy Capps, will explore mysterious objects associated with mummies, mummification, and their journey through ideas and history.
