Jan. 3: Pol Defends Gun-Toting Visitor to Sept. 11 Memorial

Councilman calls on District Attorney to drop charges on 'legally-armed' tourist.

1. Nearly a year to the day after making during the post-Christmas blizzard of 2009, Councilman Dan Halloran, R-Queens, is again stirring the pot with a full-throated defense of a Tennessee woman arrested for attempting to bring a firearm into the Sept. 11 Memorial Plaza on Dec. 22. “Some of our gun laws are not only stupid, they’re unconstitutional,” Halloran said, claiming that gun laws in New York should be superseded by legislation granting residents to carry arms in Tennessee and other states. “Good law in one state is good law in another."
