The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning for the five boroughs effective from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday.
Sustained winds from 20 to 40 mph are expected, with gusts up to 60 mph, according to NWS.
The high winds could bring down trees and large branches—with the old-growth specimens in particularly at risk.
