Grab and Go! Where to Take the Kids This Weekend

Our suggestions for the cream of the family event crop in the Ft. Greene and Clinton Hill area.

The weather is starting to warm up oh-so slightly, so now's a great time to grab the kids and go to some of the great events going on in and around the neighborhood. Here are our picks for the best ones this week.

The Nightingale and Other Short Fables

What? BAM and the Canadian Opera Company present this US premiere of a collection of operatic fables with music by composer Igor Stravinsky. The centerpiece is an adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Nightingale. But as directed by Robert Lepage, the opera takes on , with the orchestra pit transformed into a lagoon of swimming singers, boats and dragons. Puppets, opera, acrobatics and 20,000 gallons of water – what could possibly go wrong? In Russian with English titles.
