It's approaching record temperatures in New York City this weekend, but here in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill you can still be cool with our collection of weekend picks. With charity hot dog cookoffs, jazz shows, edgy films and cane sugar cocktails, who needs A/C?

The Great Hot Dog Cookoff

What? Admit it, there's nothing like a good hot dog. And this weekend at Kelso, you get the chance to eat a lot of them without guilt amidst a lively hip crowd. 24 teams of chefs compete in a variety of categories, you're the judge, and the cash goes to the Food Bank for New York City. Just say yes to gourmet hot dogs – trashy andfancy, grass fed and delicious – and all for a good cause.

Sunset Sessions at Madiba

What? In anticipation of the opening of the upcoming exhibition of Indigenous Australian Art, MoCADA presents the Saying No Mini Film Festival, featuring films by and about Aboriginal Australia. On Friday you can catch a ghost stories triptych on Friday, BeDevil, directed by Tracey Moffatt. Saturday, is Bastardy, a documentary directed by Amiel Courtin-Wilson that tracks Jack Charles, a 63-year-old homosexual Aboriginal elder, award-winning actor, professional cat burglar and former junkie traversing the borders of the criminal and acting worlds. Sunday see the true story of a boxing champion come symbolic figure of interracial politics in Lionel, directed by Eddie Martin.
