Get Out: What To Do This Weekend

Our top picks for spending your weekend in the neighborhood.

Whether your goal for the next few days is to revisit 90s music, immerse yourself in a Bastille Day weekend bacchanal, get in shape, or do as much free drinking as possible (didn't we already cover that?), we've got you covered with this week's top picks.

The Total 4th Avenue Immersion
What? Free beer. In case you haven't already started walking to 4th avenue and are still reading, here's the specs - a daytime beer crawl down 4th Avenue with free Brooklyn Brewery beverages from popular bars such as Mission Dolores, The Rock Shop, Cherry Tree and Pacific Standard. Also, restaurant specials like $2 tacos at Oaxaca and a beer brunch at Sheep Station (with complimentary bottles of Local 1). Plus, card holders get access to a Bastille Day show featuring French bands and burlesque for $1 at Littlefield.
Where? Mission Dolores, The Rock Shop, Pacific Standard and more bars and restaurants along 4th Avenue.
When? Sat., July 16, noon to 6 p.m.
How Much? Free, but to participate, you must pick up an immersion card at Oaxaca (250 4th Ave.) or Cherry Tree (65 4th Ave.) starting at noon on the day of the event. Only 500 cards in circulation, so pick yours up early!

SWAMP DOGG plus The Revelations (featuring Tre Wiliams)
What? A rare performance by the original Doggfather, Swamp Dogg. A legendary producer and song writer, Swamp Dogg brings his eccentric personality and classic R&B style to Brooklyn for just two shows. Also appearing on the bill are The Revelations featuring grammy nominated Tre Williams, a noted songwriter and record producer in his own right.
Where? Southpaw, 125 5th Ave. between Sterling and St. Johns places.
When? Fri., July 15, 7 p.m. doors, 7:30 p.m. show.
How Much? $12 advance, $14 day of show.

Where? BAM Rose Cinemas, 30 Lafayette Ave., between Ashland Place and St. Felix Street.
When? Fri., July 15 through Sun., July 17 at 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9:30 pm (continues through July 21.)
