Where: at 30 Lafayette Avenue between Ashland Place and St. Felix Street at 7 p.m. on March 4
Why Go: Catherine Deneuve, one of the most elegant actresses ever, is getting a well-deserved retrospective at BAM in March. On Friday, BAM will screen “Potiche,” a comedy starring Deneuve that was released last year. The Guardian called it “A French farce with feeling.” After the movie you can ask Deneuve herself about her lengthy and brilliant career.
Where: Kumble Theater on Flatbush Avenue between DeKalb Avenue and Willoughby Street. March 3-6. Check here for times.
Why Go: Dancer Nathan Trice’s “Recognizing Women Project” promises to be a compelling evening of four works just in time for Women’s History Month. The professor at Long Island University will be premiering his new piece, “One’s Trilogy,” which examines his relationship with his mother, who wrestled with paranoid schizophrenia. Another work, “MOTHERS,” will examine the relationship famous figures such as Gandhi, Che Guevara and Hitler had with their moms. Anyone else feeling a little Freudian?
Price: $20
Where: Fort Greene Park at the corner of DeKalb Avenue and Washington Park from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 5.
Why Go: OK, the forecast doesn’t look too hot — literally — on Saturday. But if the rain holds up for a moment, head down to the Greenmarket and recycle any clean textiles you’re looking to get rid of. Organizers will accept clothing, shoes (a pair of them, please), towels, sheets, scarves, hats, bags and belts.
Art of an Industrial Wasteland
Where: . 68 Washington Avenue at Park Avenue. Reception on March 4 at 7:30 p.m. Exhibit on display until March 30.
Why Go: Local artist Matthew Robinson will be showing off his new series of paintings of “defunct and desultory environments.” Robinson says that his art hints at ill-conceived notions of “progress.” Head over to RePop on Washington Avenue and let us know what you think.
