G Train Survivor Rides Again!

Medics thought that Jonathan Walton would die after being struck in the head by the subway on New Years, but he has miraculously recovered.

The 27-year-old man whose head was smashed by a G train on New Year’s is out of the hospital and on his feet after medics thought he was likely to die.

Jonathan Walton’s sister, Cristal, said that he had been released from Kings County Hospital late last month.

“He’s walking around, he’s back to old self,” said Cristal Walton. “He’s not suffering any brain damage.”

It’s a stunning recovery for Jonathan Walton, who was listed as “likely” — as in, “likely to die” — by medics who arrived on the scene of Jan. 1 at around 1:30 a.m. at the Classon Avenue station.

After a night of New Year’s Eve revelry Jonathan Walton had passed out on the subway platform with his head hanging over the tracks. An incoming train slammed his skull, horrifying bystanders.

"I saw the driver of the train calling it in to the MTA; he seemed very shaken up. The man was lying on his back near where the train hit him, motionless but breathing. Emergency vehicles swarmed the scene," read one first-hand account posted on The Local.

But with his family from North Carolina by his side, Jonathan Walton — who had moved to Clinton Hill in 2008 with dreams of making a name for himself as a hair stylist — .

"There's always hope," said Ebony Pledger, his niece, while he was still in a catatonic state at the hospital. "You can never give up on that — he does things that give you the idea there is progress."

Numerous efforts to reach Jonathan Walton, were to no avail, but Cristal Walton said he is doing well.

“He’s not suffering any brain damage — he does have a lot of therapy ahead of him,” she said.
