UPDATE: Flood Warning in Effect Sunday

In other news, transformer fire at S. Elliott and Hanson Place disrupts Con Ed service to 273 customers.

Update, 2:04 p.m.: With upwards of 6 inches of rain reported at Kennedy International Airport, runoff is inundating streets, some homes and continues to wreak havoc on city subways.

Here's a list of service changes due to the weather from the MTA:

  • Northbound A and C trains are operating express between Canal Street and 59th Street Columbus Circle due to switch problems at Canal St.
  • N service is suspended between Whitehall St. and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue
  • R service is suspended between Pacific St. and 95th St.
  • Shuttle bus service is in place for N and R customers between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and Pacific Street.
  • The D is operating on the Q line in both directions between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and DeKalb Avenue due to water condition at 36th St. in Brooklyn.
  • Northbound E and F trains are operating express from West 4th Street to 47th-50th-Rockefeller Center due to flooding at 34th St. The southbound E is terminating at Second Avenue.

    Update, 12:15 p.m.: This is from the Fort Greene Association's Twitter feed:

    @FortGreeneAssn There's an electrical fire on Hanson Place and South Elliott Place; the fire department is monitoring the fire while it burns out

    No word yet on whether the fire is related to the recent inclement weather.

    According to Con Edison, 273 customers are affected. The utility expects to have the power back on by 10 p.m. tonight.

    We're in for a soggy Sunday, folks.

    The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning effective for our area until 2:15 p.m. During that time, 2 to 4 inches of rain are expected to fall on top of the estimated 3 inches falling today and Saturday night.

    According to the MTA, there have been delays in subway service due to the weather.

    But in one piece of good news, debris halting train traffic to and from Coney Island on the F and Q line has been removed
