Federal Program Offers Help With Home Heating Bills

Grants vary depending on type of heating and income.

Having trouble heating your home or apartment as fall turns into winter? The federal government may be able to help.

The Home Energy Assistance Program was created in 1981 to help low income residents of public housing pay their heat, utilities and cooking gas costs.

Residents who live in public, Mitchell-Lama or Section 8 housing are eligible provided they are U.S. citizens or resident aliens and fall within the federal income guidelines.
