Feb. 3: CB2 Poised to Reject Five Guys Sidewalk Cafe

Transportation committee calls plan "premature."

1. Looks like burger fans will have to wait to enjoy Five Guys al-fresco in Fort Greene. With Community Board 2's Transportation Committee recommending 8-3 in favor of a rejection of the fast food restaurant's application for a sidewalk cafe, it seems likely that the full board will decide to officially dash Five Guys' plan for outside seating at its monthly meeting Feb. 8.

2. Singer-songwriter and bassist will lead his band, FM Tribe, at an appearance tonight at BAMcafe starting at 6 p.m. at the Opera House on Lafayette.

3. Though Mayor Michael Bloomberg unveiled a no-new-taxes budget Thursday to great fanfare, the New York Times' Jim Dwyer notes that formal levies aren't the only way the city makes money these days.
