Incident occurred Wednesday as train pulled into station.

Long Island Rail Road service has been partially restored after a train derailed at Atlantic Terminal earlier Wednesday.

As of 5 p.m., only trains on the Far Rockaway and West Hempstead lines were departing from the station.

Service at the station had been completely disrupted after a derailment of a train that was pulling into the station at around 3:30 p.m., according to the Metropolitan Transit Authority.

The train involved was not carrying passengers at the time of the incident, an MTA spokeswoman said. No injuries were reported.

It was unclear whether Wednesday's inclement weather, which soaked the area with 1 to 2 inches of rain in the span of a few hours, was a factor in the derailment.

The MTA spokeswoman said the cause was still under investigation.
