City Zoos Collecting Food and Toys for the Holidays

The Wildlife Conservation Society and City Harvest will give you a free trip to the zoo for bringing in nonperishable food and toys.

The holidays can be the hardest for needy New Yorkers, so the Wildlife Conservation Society is partnering with the Brooklyn and Bronx Borough Presidents’ offices and City Harvest to collect nonperishable food and toys, and to offer free admission to WCS’s five zoos and aquariums in the city.

Visitors who bring 10 nonperishable food items or a new, unwrapped toy to the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, or New York Aquarium between November 28 and December 31 will receive a free ticket to the Bronx Zoo. Visitors can also bring donations to the New York Aquarium to receive a free ticket for every toy or 10 nonperishable items.

Please note that City Harvest cannot accept any unlabeled or dented cans, any open packaging, products that need to be refrigerated, homemade foods, or expired products.

Donations can be dropped off at the main entrance to any of the zoos or aquariums (without admission), or at the or inside Dancing Crane Café at the Bronx Zoo.
