Bike Lane Battle Takes to the Courts!
Opponents of the controversial Prospect Park West bike lane filed a lawsuit last week that challenges Mayor Bloomberg’s vision of cycle-friendly city. The suit deriedes the lane as a government action that is “arbitrary and unfair.” Critics have long complained that the lane “requires pedestrians to walk across inconsistent traffic patterns with limited visibility,” as they restate in court documents.

Autistic Students Pushed Out For Charter School?
Parents, teachers and students of P.S. 32 rallied last week in opposition to a city plan to relocate a charter school into a space in the school used to serve autistic kids. The city insists that Brooklyn Prospect Charter School would only temporarily use the space normally reserved for the Nest program for autistic children, but parents insisted the proposal would disrupt the successful education model.
Food Crisis at the Food Pantry!
A Bed-Stuy food pantry is so short of food that it had to close up only 90 minutes after opening last week. The Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger is pleading for donations to get its operation back in full swing. A mere $35 provides nine meals.
