Atlantic Ave Most Dangerous Road in Brooklyn for Pedestrians

Leads borough in fatalities; Eastern Parkway ties for third

Atlantic Avenue and Eastern Parkway are two of the busiest streets in the borough. For pedestrians, they are also two of the most deadly.

Earlier this week the Tri-State Transportation Campaign released a study surveying Brooklyn's most dangerous roads for walkers. Atlantic Avenue tied for first with seven pedestrian fatalities between 2008 and 2010. Eastern Parkway was tied for third with four fatalities in the same time period.

The study, which comes with a map and a fact sheet, analyzed federal data to compile a comprehensive list of pedestrian deaths in the tri-state area. The report includes the age and gender of those killed.
