ASPCA Deems Evacuation Centers Safe For Pets

Shelters examined and stocked with supplies.

Pet owners in evacuation zones can breathe a sigh of relief. 

The ASPCA today visited evacuation centers, where 200-plus animals are currently riding out the storm with their owners, to assess the status of pets, distribute fliers, assist with shelter setup and deliver pet supplies. 

Officials stressed that evacuation centers were safe for pets and urged residents living in Zone A, which is under a , take their pets with them and not leave them behind.

Pet owners should bring a copy of their animal's vaccination records, a leash and muzzle, pet food and medications and a crate or carrier.
