5 Things: Fixers' Collective in Gowanus

Sharing ideas and techniques for repairing, mending, enhancing or repurposing broken objects.

1. The Fixers’ Collective is a weekly social experiment in improvisational fixing and mending. If possible, participants should fill out the Fixers’ Form in advance so the Master Fixers can prepare for your visit. On any Thursday evening, bring your broken thing and place it on the fixing table for collective consideration. The assembled group will share ideas and techniques for repairing, mending, enhancing or repurposing. Proteus Gowanus, 543 Union St. 7 p.m. $5.

2. Country-punk fusion rocker Painless Parker opens for The Waysties, who are set for a night of raucous Irish songs and Irished-up rock covers. The Way Station, 683 Washington Ave. 8 p.m. Free.

3. A silent film, The Loves of Pharaoh (1922) is resurrected at this BAM performance accompanied by an 18-piece ensemble performing a new score by Joseph C. Phillips Jr. BAM Harvey Theater, 651 Fulton St. Wed., Thurs. and Fri., 7:30 p.m. $25.

4. Bring your compostable material to Compost for Brooklyn and watch old food scraps transform into nutrients for plants! E. 8th Street and Newkirk Avenue. Every Thursday and Saturday, 4:30 p.m. Free.

5. Singalong to Prince's Purple Rain album from start to finish and find out what it really sounds like when doves cry. Little Zelda, 728 Franklin Ave. 8:30 p.m. Free.
