5 Things: Craft Fair, Blood Drive, Subway Changes

Plus Brooklyn Brainery's open house and Grand Central history for kids.

1. Shop without guilt. Today is the Prospect Heights Craft Fair, which not only features a "lovingly curated marketplace" of independent artists, plus, a full roster of entertainment to occupy the kids while you shop ($5 drop-off fee). It's guilt-free because proceeds from the fair benefit the Arts Programs at Prospect Heights' very own public elementary school, P.S. 9. 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Free entry.

2. Hang out with the Brainery. As we know, Brooklyn Brainery has come to Prospect Heights. They're a friendly crew and want to meet the neighbors so they're holding a Brooklyn Brainery Open House on Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon. Free but RSVP if you can.

3. Teach the children well. Grand Central, one of New York City's greatest treasures, is celebrating its Centennial this year. As part of the year-long celebration, the New York Transit Museum is holding One Fun Hundred, where kids ages 5 and up can use clues to make their way from 1913 to 2013, discovering facts, secrets, and anecdotes along the way. 1:30 p.m. For younger kids the museum is holding Subway Safari and ElectriCity Live (see times at links).

4. Give blood. You know you should and today's it's super convenient at the Queen of All Saints Church Blood Drive.  Your blood donation can help to save three lives. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 300 Vanderbilt Ave.
