5 Things: Brooklyn Public Library Has a New Logo

What you need to know, pre-coffee.

1. It's official: The school bus strike will begin on Wednesday morning. Click here to review the city's plan for helping those affected get to school.

2. Have a singing voice that's destined to impress? You're in luck! The Brooklyn Philharmonia Chorus is looking for new singers. Auditions for the Spring 2013 season will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 15, 22, and 29 at First Presbyterian Church at 124 Henry St. Program for the Spring 2013 concert includes Schubert's Mass in G, Leonard Bernstein's The Lark and a medley of Stephen Sondheim Broadway show tunes.

3. Brooklyn Public Library is sporting a new logo! Check it out on the library's homepage, and take a look back at some past logos here. How do you think the new one stacks up?

4. Head to Brooklyn Botanic Garden on Saturday, Jan. 27 for "Illumination Celebration," a one day winter festival featuring such events as a hand-stand workshop for grown-ups, lantern-making for families and a moonlight lantern walk with giant puppets and stilt dancers.
