Patch Picks: Where to Watch the Super Bowl

Here's a rundown of bars that will show the granddaddy of them all.

Wondering where to watch the Super Bowl this weekend? Can you just not bear the thought of staying in your apartment while your cheesehead roommate loses his mind in front of the TV drinking a case of Milwaukee's Best? Here is a rundown of a few places that will be showing the Green Bay Packers vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Frank's Cocktail Lounge

For atmosphere, it’s always hard to beat , one of the classiest — but not pretentious — bars in Fort Greene. The joint will set up a projection screen on the stage in the back of the bar, so it should be easy to have a view of the game wherever you are. No special deals are on tap at Frank’s this Sunday, but you can bet on a good time, like always.

Love football, but need a seat at the bar? will likely be the low-key joint in Clinton Hill during the game. The watering hole recently got a TV, so word hasn’t gotten out that the game will be on. Just one catch: Rope doesn’t open until 5:30 p.m., so don’t go there way early. Instead, show up an hour before the game game and take advantage of the happy hour that goes until 8 p.m. During that time, drafts and well drinks will only set you back $4.

Mullane’s

We know we sound like a broken record mentioning Mullane's, but this bar is your best bet when it comes to sports in Fort Greene. Eight TVs will display Mark Sanchez in all of his maddening glory. The projection TV in the back is so big that you’ll feel like you'll be able to analyze Ben Roethlisberger's every nuance as he continues his highly questionable road to redemption. There aren’t any specials going down at during the games, but the place has a full menu of bar food. Expect it to be packed, the manager is often turning people away by halftime.

Moe’s

If huge crowds aren’t your thing but cheap drinks are, then try Moe’s, which is right down the road from Mullane’s. The bar will have one projection screen set up, and a killer happy hour will go until 7:30 p.m. Here are the bargains: two for one draft beers, $6 frozen margaritas and $1 off of well drinks. Not bad at all. But look out for skirmishes between Steelers and Packers fans by 6 p.m., they’re going to be pretty rowdy by then considering those deals.
