The Secret Sipper: Gluten-Free Beer at Cochinita

Brewskies for even the most allergic among us.

This is the borough of beer. And for those among us who are allergic to gluten or have Celiac Disease, there's no reason not to take in one of Brooklyn's favorite extra-curricular activities.

Take for instance the Redbridge Gluten-Free Sorghum Beer, which actually tastes like a small-batch microbrew—a surprising fact given that it's an Anheuser-Busch product.

And given the difficulties in segregating the ingredients for gluten-free beer at large breweries, Redbridge probably won't be arriving in the supermarkets—or mainline restaurants and bars—anytime soon.

So those in Fort Greene-Clinton Hill looking for their gluten-free beer fix will have to come to , a Fulton Street taqueria that after water damage from in July.

In addition to Redbridge, Cochinita also offers Sixpoint Lager and Negra Modelo. According to owner Adam Frank, a lemonade-cum-brewsky mix called a “shandy” is also in the works.
