New Business to Bring Locally Sourced Sandwiches to Fort Greene

Eatery opening in the space formerly housing Catherine's Caffe.

The Brooklyn Sandwich Society, a new “farm-to-table” eatery, will be moving into the old space at 184 DeKalb Ave., between Cumberland Street and Carlton Avenue, reports Brownstoner.

Their website says that their sandwiches will be made with locally-grown ingredients (their location is a block away from the Saturday Greenmarket at Fort Greene Park). As a teaser, their web site mentions one sandwich that has already made the spring menu: The Carlton, made with roasted lamb, fava bean mash, grilled ramps, mint persillade, and served on sunflower rye bread.

A post last week on the sandwich shop’s Facebook page confirms that they have been approved to sell beer and wine, though there is no opening date set.
