The Annex Opens in Fort Greene

A new coffeeshop makes its debut in the heart of the neighborhood on Fulton Street.

The Greene Grape Annex coffeeshop held a soft opening on Monday in the midst of preparations for a grand opening the day after Labor Day.

The Annex has come to the neighborhood on the heels of two established businesses in Fort Greene.

Owned by Amy and Jason Richelson, who also run Greene Grape Provisions and wine shop, all three businesses are within walking distance of each other on Fulton Street.

According to The Green Grape Annex general manager Michael Hayes, the small shop "isn't too much right now" but they will be setting up a seating area by the grand opening. For now, it’s perfect for a quick coffee to go.

“There’s a lack of coffee in the neighborhood,” said Hayes.

The Annex is changing that by boasting coffees Hayes maintains one would usually only get in specialty shops, like a New Orleans cold brew and Blue Bottle hot coffees—roasted right here in Brooklyn.

As for food, the shop serves croissants and other assorted cookies and pastries, but it’s planning on serving breakfast sandwiches when the time comes for the grand opening.

Coffees range in price from $2-$4. The Annex is located at 680 Fulton St. between S. Portland Avenue and S. Oxford Street, right next door to , which plans to occupy part of the space.
