Pre-Registration For Barclays Center Jobs Begins

Public housing residents, as well as those living in neighborhoods surrounding Atlantic Yards, are to be given preference.

Barclays Center unveiled a new jobs website this week amidst —of available employment opportunities at the site.

A representative of arena developer Forest City Ratner said that jobseekers would be able to pre-register for positions at brooklynbarclayscenterjobs.com in a hiring process expected to last two months.

Once screened, candidates will be asked back for an in-person interview at job fairs to be held in July and August. The first training sessions for new employees will take place in August, according to FCRC.

FCRC execs joined Mayor Michael Bloomberg in April to announce that at Barclays Center—the equivalent of 1,240 full-time positons, they later clarified.

At a Community Board 6 meeting, FCRC representatives confirmed that of those positions, .

In an email sent Tuesday, FCRC vice president for external affairs Ashley Cotton confirmed plans to give residents of New York City Housing Authority and Brooklyn Community Boards, 2, 3, 6 and 8 preference for jobs.

Graduates of , Brooklyn United For Innovative Local Development (BUILD), will also be given priority, Cotton wrote.
