Jan. 14-15: LGBT Marriage Expo

Marriage equality gets the business treatment at Brooklyn Borough Hall on Sunday.

1. The legalization of gay marriage last summer in New York wasn't just a political decision—though to be sure, one with tremendous impact on the fight for LGBT rights across the U.S. It was also a boon to many Brooklyn-based businesses, many of which will be in attendance at the first annual at Borough Hall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. At this event all couples and the businesses looking to serve them are welcome.

2. visit Greenlight Bookstore on Saturday morning to read from their new books, with neighborhood performers occasionally stopping by as well. Great stories are guaranteed, with the occasional added bonus of arts and crafts.

3. Create puppets. Learn about clowning and acrobatics. Recite Shakespeare. Explore yoga, historical events like the Abolitionist movement and even current political struggles like the fight to protect New York City’s water at on Saturday at 2 p.m.

4. Featuring hundreds of vendors, producers and artisans, the inhabits at Skylight One Hanson on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

5. Alternate side parking rules are in effect this weekend.
