Sept. 20: A Lavish Opera Returns To BAM

The Jean-Baptiste Lully opera "Atys" rekindles French Baroque-era romance.

1. In 1989, Jean-Baptiste Lully’s opera, "Atys," arrived at BAM. The mastermind was conductor William Christie, and the orchestra was early-music ensemble Les Arts Florissants, whose incisive production revealed the for both New York City and the world. Atys returns to BAM for four nights.

2. transforms Fort Greene's Irondale Center into a lush banquet hall—complete with a visible kitchen—where each night at 6:30 p.m., guests are treated to a five-course, gourmet-dining experience, with food carefully prepared on the premises and served with charismatic flourish by self-proclaimed geniuses of the avant-garde theater. Through Sept. 25.

3. Deputy Inspector Anthony Tasso will be the featured guest at the 88th Precinct's monthly Community Council meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at Ingersoll Community Center, 177 Myrtle Ave. at Prince Street in Fort Greene.
