Oct. 3: Moth StorySLAM

The monthly spoken word competition lands at Park Slope's Southpaw.

1. Featured on radio shows like This American Life, comes to Brooklyn again this month with its StorySLAM competition tonight at Park Slope's Southpaw at 125 Fifth Ave. Tonight's theme is "Wisdom." Organizers advise attendees to arrive an hour before the show's posted 7:30 opening time.

2. Husband and wife duo Anthony Myint and Karen Leibowitz tell , and their goal of giving back to the community by providing quality and affordable food. They discuss their book, "Mission Street Food," with Peter Meehan, editor of McSweeney's new food magazine "Lucky Peach."

3. Mos Def will join up with none other than the New York Philharmonic for this year's Restoration Rocks bash at Restoration Plaza on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. in Bed-Stuy.

4. in the monthly performance series, "The Jukebox," tonight at Union Hall. Performers will present a performance inspired by a song, and then sing that song karaoke-style.
