Jeff Mangum to play 2,100 seat Opera House in January.
Throngs of aging—yet still hip—indie rock fans have a rare treat in store come January, courtesy of .
Jeff Mangum, former lead vocalist and guitarist with Neutral Milk Hotel, will play a one-man performance at BAM's Howard Gilman Opera House on Jan. 20, 2012 at 8 p.m.
The show promises to offer longtime fans and new converts a perhaps once-in-a-decade chance to hear a seminal indie rock player perform live.

Since NMH disbanded in 1999, Mangum has kept an unusually low profile, which has only seemed to broaden the introverted singer-songwriter's cult-like appeal.
Known for arranging impromptu live performances at small venues spread mostly by word-of-mouth, Mangum of late has made a flurry of public appearances in high-profile locations, including a spot at this year's All Tomorrow's Parties and, most recently, a visit to the ongoing Occupy Wall Street protest in Zuccotti Park.
