Mark Morris Dance Group Holds Dual Shows at BAM

Famed choreographer Mark Morris teamed up with Gertrude Stein, Maira Kalman and Isaac Mizrahi to bring both shows to life.

The Mark Morris Dance Group will perform “Four Saints in Three Acts” and “A Choral Fantasty,” at , opening on March 1.

Morris’ newest work, “A Choral Fantasy,” opens the show, and is set to Beethoven’s “Fantasia in C minor for Piano, Chorus, and Orchestra, Op. 80.” Costumes for the show were designed by fashion icon Isaac Mizrahi, with lighting by Michael Chybowski.

The performance of “Four Saints in Three Acts” includes the music of Virgil Thomson, libretto by Gertrude Stein, and sets by illustrator Maira Kalman.

“It’s a gorgeous, surprising, beautiful, tender piece of music,” Mark Morris told the Brooklyn Paper, of “Four Saints in Three Acts.”

The show runs from March 1–3, at BAM's Howard Gilman Opera House, with both performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25–$80, and can be purchased at http://www.bam.org.
